CBL Black Irish Army Pack

New to the Cowbell Leather Co lineup in 2026!

Each bag is an authentic vintage 08 Pattern backpack! These packs were made by a British manufacturer in 1923 and issued to soldiers in the Irish Army. Each one is unique and may have a soldiers’ name, initials or numbers written or painted on and may or may not have a crest. I wish I knew the story of each soldier, who carried their pack… but I do not.

The bags have been taken apart, cleaned and reassembled. As you can see in the photos, the colors range from various shades of black, gray, and green. The bag may be frayed or marked by years of use & storage, but that is part of its’ Irish history and doesn’t impact the bag’s integrity.

I have reinforced each pack with short leather side panels & a leather bottom. An external & internal leather pocket has been added along with a leather shoulder strap.  Aside from that… the bag is in its original condition. Each bag is fully functional and will provide years of use.

Measures 14.5" x 12" x 4.5" and made of cotton duck.
